Southern Ontario is well known for its hot and humid summers, so this week, we have a few tips to help you beat the heat AND save money on your electric bill in the process.

Don’t Let Your Air Conditioner Break the Bank

For many of us, air conditioning is non-negotiable during the summer months. It’s a great way to keep our home cool, but it’s also one of the top energy drains this time of year – meaning your electric bill rises along with the temperature. A few ways to make the most from your A/C this summer include:

  • Have your A/C unit checked to ensure it’s running a peak performance. Replacing air filters and removing any dust or debris from the surrounding area can also help ensure things to keep running smoothly.
  • A programmable thermostat is a must with A/C – create a schedule that works for your needs – Having your A/C on only when someone is home, and getting it to tapper off during less needed times of the day.
