Meet The Team: Company Founders – Patrick Blais & Ami Dehne

Patrick and Ami founded Blais Electric out of frustration with the long hours, stressful commutes, and poor treatment Patrick experienced in his previous electrician roles. They dreamed of creating a company that offered something better—for their family, their employees, and their clients.

Their vision was to lead a team where employees were not just workers, but respected individuals with lives outside of work. They wanted a workplace where team members could be home for dinner, avoid weekend work, and enjoy a balanced life. But their vision extended beyond just their employees. Patrick and Ami also wanted to build strong, trusting relationships with their clients, welcoming each one into the Blais Electric family. Treating every client with care, respect, and integrity was, and continues to be, a cornerstone of their business.

After taking a leadership course that encouraged them to think big, and combining Patrick’s electrical skills with Ami’s strategic mindset, Blais Electric was born—11 years ago.

In the early days, it was just Patrick in a small truck and Ami running the office from their kitchen table. Patrick focused on treating people the way that mattered to him: with respect, honesty, and integrity. These values quickly earned the attention of the community, leading to glowing feedback in three main areas:

1. Always returning phone calls.
2. Showing up when promised.
3. Delivering high-quality work.

Patrick’s reliability, integrity, and genuine care for both his clients and his work led to word-of-mouth referrals, helping the business grow steadily and hiring our first employee, Jeremy, who is still with us. Today, Blais Electric has grown into a small company of eight, but those core values remain central—evidenced by the 568 five-star Google reviews they’ve received.

Patrick is a third-generation electrician. Patricks French-Canadian grandfather founded Blais Electrical (which is not Blais Electric) in Welland, Ontario, followed by Patrick’s father becoming an industrial electrician.
